Victoria Lum is a graphic designer currently based in Amsterdam and is a participant in Werkplaats Typografie (Year 24). She was born and raised in so-called Vancouver, Canada on the unceded and traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̍əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ílwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Her design practice continues to evolve from freelance projects within the cultural sector—building from her diverse interests in art history, anthropology, cultural studies, and multidisciplinary design. After graduating from York University and Sheridan College’s Bachelor of Design Honours programme in Toronto, she returned to her hometown to work for local visual arts organizations including Fillip/New Documents, Vancouver Art/Book Fair, and Information Office. When she is not working on her freelance practice, she enjoys taking continuing education classes, growing vegetables, and playing with her dog, Dumpling 🥟. She is also currently serving on the board of directors for Projectile Publishing Society—a Vancouver and LA-based publisher for experimental art books and periodicals.
